The point cloud is a product obtained from the 3d scanner when scanning any selected area. It consists of millions of points that represent the exacted three-dimensional structure of the scanned environment. Thanks to the digital camera installed in the scanner, the point cloud can be colored precisely in the same way as the scanned environment. There are many free programs available on the web that allow to collect information contained in this cloud.
The point cloud allows you to:
– Measure distances between any points (surfaces, volumes);
– Display three-dimensional colored models of the area (suitable for architectural concepts)
– Make comparisons between models.
The picture shows the point cloud obtained during the scanning of City Hall in Rzeszow in Poland.
